TWO POEMS

TERRELL JAMAL TERRY

BURLAP, TRUMPET & NIGHT OWL NO. 1

Night glows around

Trees in Hawaii

Beside you behind

The wide closing

The rabbit & the bomb

Your cave your canal

Below the vault

Eponymously above

Oracle & pine straw

Soaked in rainwings

BURLAP, TRUMPET & NIGHT OWL NO. 4

Gold gears, wheels & woods

A village of green sketches

A heart is only called one

Leave the light on & house the wounds

I call it a cliff

We sink & leave rooms destroyed

I have so much work

In spite of mine

I know an oblique faith

& the dark brightness of wonder
